FAQ
A little help before your next adventure. Find answers about playing on Dayhop, keeping progress, and getting a game to load.
Playing & devices
Is Dayhop free? Do I need an account?
The current collection is free to play in your browser. Dayhop has no registration, paid subscriptions, purchases, or installation requirement. Open All Games, choose a title, read its device notes, and select Start game.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
The thirteen mini games support touch controls. Support for larger games varies: use the catalog’s input filter and check each game’s device notes. Some titles recommend landscape; Skyward Wings requires portrait on phones and tablets. A touch label describes available controls, not a promise of equal performance on every device.
Why are some games in Chinese?
Dayhop’s catalog and guides are written in English, while games retain their original interfaces. Each game page provides an English overview and control instructions. The surrounding page does not translate text inside the game.
Loading & controls
Why does a game wait for me to press Start game?
The cover and instructions appear first so you can check the controls before loading the playable files. For an external release, Start game also begins the connection to its game host. Loading a detail page alone does not request that external game frame.
What should I do if a game is blank or keeps loading?
Allow time for larger games to prepare their models and textures, then open Game not loading or controls hard to reach? below the game. Try Retry loading or Reload; reloading can discard unsaved progress. For an external game, use the direct-host link in the help area if the embedded version remains unavailable. Check your connection and whether browser settings or extensions block that host. Clearing site data should not be your first step because it can delete saves.
Why do the keyboard or sound controls not work?
Click or tap inside the game before using its keys. Check for a pause screen, tutorial, or orientation prompt, and follow the controls listed for that title. Browsers may require interaction before playing sound. Use Expand game to make more room, or Fullscreen after loading. See the controls and fullscreen guide.
How do I leave the expanded or fullscreen game?
Use Close expanded view in the Dayhop toolbar to leave the enlarged page view. Keys pressed inside an external game are handled by that game, so Esc may pause it rather than close the outer view. Esc normally leaves browser fullscreen on desktop; mobile browsers provide their own fullscreen exit controls.
Can I play without an internet connection?
An internet connection is needed to load Dayhop and its external games. Some games can continue after their resources have loaded, but Dayhop does not provide a supported offline installation or guarantee offline access. Keep the page open if you have unsaved progress.
Saves & favorites
Where is my progress saved?
Save behavior depends on the game. Titles may keep progress, settings, or best scores in browser storage; there is no Dayhop account or cloud-save recovery service. External games use their own host’s storage, which a browser may partition or block when embedded. Private browsing, clearing data, or switching browser profiles, devices, or addresses can make records unavailable. Read the save guide before resetting a game.
Why did my old progress disappear after a hosting change?
Browser storage belongs to a specific site origin. The nineteen larger games now run from their official game domains; earlier saves from Dayhop-hosted copies do not transfer automatically. Keep your previous browser data and use the game’s own export/import controls if available. Dayhop cannot silently copy saves between different domains. A direct tab and an embedded game may also have separate storage contexts.
How do Favorites and Recently Played work?
Select a card’s heart or the game page’s Save button to add a Favorite. Select it again to remove that game. Recently Played records game pages you open, even if you do not start playing. Both lists stay in this browser and do not sync between devices. Clearing either list does not reset a game’s own progress; clearing browser site data can remove the lists and local saves.
Hosting & rights
Are the games hosted on Dayhop or another website?
The current collection contains 32 original MEST games: thirteen locally hosted mini games and nineteen larger releases embedded from the creator’s official game domains. External games remain playable inside Dayhop, while their files come from the listed host. Their availability and updates depend on that release. The hosting panel on each game page identifies its runtime.
What happens when an external game starts?
Your browser connects to the game’s host, which receives connection information and may use cookies or browser storage. Game data is separate from Dayhop’s Favorites and Recently Played lists. Read the Privacy Policy and Cookie & Storage Notice for the current hosting and storage explanation.
Who created the games? Can I reuse their files?
The games are original works by MEST. Original material retains its stated rights; separately credited libraries, artwork, models, fonts, and audio may have their own licenses. Being able to play a game does not grant reuse permission. Check the game’s notices, its in-game credits, and Creators & Rights for the applicable terms.
How can I report a problem or a credit issue?
Prepare the game’s Dayhop URL, browser and device, a description of what happened, and steps to reproduce it. Include a screenshot if useful, but avoid passwords or sensitive save data. Email your report to [email protected]; the Contact page explains what to include. For ownership or attribution concerns, also read Copyright & Takedown.
